Pant Memorial Hall provides a simple and local venue for funeral gatherings. We know that there is a lot to arrange under stressful circumstances. Here is some information to help you.
Making your booking
Please book the hall as normal, following the information on our bookings page. We will need a completed and signed hiring form, your deposit and payment in advance as for all bookings. If the time and date are not yet entirely certain, we can hold a provisional booking for you. There is no charge for any changes, just keep us informed.
The hiring form needs to be signed by the ‘responsible hirer’, someone who will take charge and be on the premises throughout. This may be the funeral director or any caterers. They will be responsible for ensuring that the hall is left in the clean condition in which it was found, ready for the next hirer. They will also be responsible for collecting the key from the keysafe and returning it afterwards. If needed, more than one person can sign the form, e.g. caterer and family members – all we ask is that one of the responsible parties is present throughout.
Timings and logistics
Setting up: The hall is presented empty; furniture is kept in the storerooms for hirers to set up as they need. We understand that immediate families probably will not want to be moving furniture just before a funeral – please make arrangements for this to be done by friends or any caterers involved. The committee are not able to set up the hall for hirers.
If the funeral is early, we may be able to allow you to set up the night before if there is no previous booking – please ask.
Travel: We know that a funeral in this area can involve some travelling – both parish churches are outside walking distance, and Emstrey (Shrewsbury) and Pentrebychan (Wrexham) crematoria are some distance away. Because of this, you may want to set up the hall before the funeral, and leave it unattended during the service. To help, we allow you to use your 90 minute set up time before leaving for the funeral. This will mean that the hall is vacant during your booking; we will not charge you for this time. You remain responsible for the hall throughout, so please ensure that it is left secure with everything switched off. Any food left out must be covered; note that we do not have any refrigeration facilities. You are welcome to leave cars in the car park if that helps.
Timings: there may be another booking after you on the same day. While we understand your situation, we have to ask that the hall is vacated promptly according to the time that you have booked.
After the gathering
We are a self-service hall (hence the low hire rates), which means that hirers are expected to wash up, sweep areas used and ensure all rubbish is removed. All furniture must also be replaced in the store rooms as found. You may wish to ask friends to help with this, or arrange for your own cleaner after the event. Thank you for ensuring that the hall is left in good condition for the next hirer.
